The Student, The Teacher, and The Environment.

Who is it to be blamed when students don’t acquire the competencies they need to have? Who is to be recognized when students receive awards? Shall it be the sacrifices of the teachers? Or the efforts of the students?

Usually, when students encounter failing grades in school, it is the teacher’s fault. Meanwhile, when students get to win different awards,it is only the students’ efforts that are usually recognized. Is that fair?

An effective teacher as others call is someone who has never been stagnant about learning. She is someone who always spends her extra time seeking for new techniques on how to be an effective teacher. He is someone who is vigilant and aware of the importance of everyone inside the class. They’re the teachers who don’t just focus on the lesson itself but instead they focus more on how to improve everyone’s talents, skills, and abilities.

Meanwhile, a responsible student is someone who never gave up on learning. She is someone who always hold on to her dreams and believes that this education is her key to success. He is someone who instead of laughing at the errands of the teachers focuses more on the lesson and goal of the teacher in front. They’re the students who understands and recognizes the efforts their teacher has showered upon them.

As a whole, the learning inside the classroom has never been a one-sided one. For it to be effective, it always needs interaction among the teacher in front and the students sitting inside the class. No matter how great a teacher teaches if there is no visible interest among students, the effectiveness of the learning session will still remain as a failure. But if everyone instead of complaining, cooperated with each other rather then surely the lesson will be properly disseminated and everyone can understand that. Haven’t you noticed that?

However, even if there is a good connection between the students and teacher, there are still a lot of factors to be considered in the environment. One of this is the place where the session is held. Due to financial incapabilities, some classrooms most especially in the provinces cannot obtain the standards  of a regular classroom making some students lack the interest to learn. Pityful, right?

Another environment factor that must also be observed is the ambiance. Ofcourse, who wants to stay for 8 hours or more in a place where it is too hot and stinky? No one for sure. Thus, the ambiance of a classroom shall be observed. It must meet the students’ and teachers’ comfort zone to make the place feel like a home for them.

Lastly, one of the greatest factor that affects the learning of the students are the people surrounding them. As the saying goes, “Birds of the same feather, flock together,” so are then the students. How can a teacher make a student believe that illegal drugs are no good for the body if he always see his family using them?

So to make everything easy, the learning inside the classroom shall not focus only on the topic itself. Instead, it must also lead to a point where students can use this as their shield to the three given environment factors. The success of a student don’t only depend on someone’s capabilities. It is always a product of the converging efforts of two people: the student and the teacher.
